As the meilleur ouvrier de France (French Master Craftsman) in the Jewellery – Precious Metal category in 2000, Ollivier Savelli, specialist in the applied arts plunges us in a floral world through a universe of raised design embellished with poetry.

His bucolic representation of a butterfly on a branch of a cherry tree in flower, transports us into an imaginary world, filled with pleasure. Time is shown thanks to a Swiss quartz movement, coiled in the heart of a tree in flower upon which a butterfly rests. The pistils of nine flowers are represented by the same number of claw-set rose-coloured sapphires (0.37 carats) and the wings of the butterfly are set with 44 blue sapphires (0.80 carats). There’s no doubt that the reassuring force of its interior universe in pink gold, the transparency of the sapphire case and the bucolic ambience of the decoration, makes this creation unique.

Designed and hand-sculpted in a block of wax by Ollivier Savelli, the Butterfly was created using a binocular loupe, the quality of the details going well beyond a normal eye’s perceptiveness. This pure jewellery motif and the applied arts were treated like a three-dimensional garden.
